DAY2: f8 Inspiration

RESEARCH

In research I stumbled upon some illustrations from a website reviewing a Facebook designer conference. The images below are a representation of a graph they had developed to communicate their ideas visually.

Graph Imagery
One of our big announcements at f8 was the new Graph API which makes it easy for developers read and write data to Facebook. We spent a lot of time thinking about how we could communicate the power of the graph through imagery, we wanted show that the graph is everywhere and can be everything. We ended up creating a series of posters with graph morphing into various icons and symbols. The main set below for the event collateral were all created by hand.

EXPERIMENTATION

These images have opened up some inspiration for me. These images are constructed with connected nodes to visualize a main image in the center. I thought, for each of these nodes there could be a click-able window that opens up with a segment of text. Each and everyone of these nodes contain a segment of text. Within these texts are selected parts. Each one of these selected parts are relational - they all share a similar core concept. They all connect together rhythmically into a core image that represents the core idea.

Here I indicate the black nodes as the original text. The selected text - the text containing the subject of love is represented as the pink node. They connect to each into a shape of a heart.

Fig1 - connective inter-nodes.
Fig2 - explosive connectivity.

Fig3 - strings.
Fig4 - nodes.

Fig5 - experiment.

As always, c,a,m,s,g,c.
